Our History

1983 – The inception of Andrew Hosking Engineering (Sole Trader).

1989 – 1st CNC machine installed.

1989 – The creation of Welding Electrode Store Ltd as a sales and marketing company for Andrew Hosking Engineering.

1994 – Moved to First Factory in Redruth.

1999 – WES moved into the current, modern, purpose built factory.

1999 – Andrew Hosking Engineering and Welding Electrode Store Ltd integrated into one company – trading as WES.

2000 – WES acquired the European division of Xmeco South Africa.

2003 – WES purchased Tungsten Carbide Engineering Ltd (Trading as Hardmetal Engineering), and changed the name to Hardmetal Engineering (Cornwall) Ltd.

2004 – The Duke of Kent visits WES to see the factory and experience UK manufacturing at it’s best

2006 – WES becomes the overall corporate identity of a company with four distinct, specialist divisions.

2006 – WES gain first Aerospace quality approval, allowing involvement in the Rolls Royce supply chain.

2007 – New Agie Spark Erosion machine and Mori-Seiki Mill / Turn machine purchased.

2011 – 2 x Brand New Agie Wire Eroders and XYZ CNC Machining centre installed.

2012 – New Laser marking machine, XYZ Lathe, Universal Grinder and Heat treatment furnaces installed.

2012 – WES become the UK agents for SVS SchweiBtechnik GmbH svs-schweisstechnik.de

2013 – WES and Managing Director Andrew Hosking celebrates 30 years in business

2015 – WES purchase the factory we have been leasing since 2000 to enable further expansion

2016 – WES add British Classic Car Parts to the group www.bcc-parts.com

2018 – The WES Engineering Solutions Group is acquired by Pentwin Group Ltd

2019 – New Mori Seiki mill-turn lathe installed

2022 – New Matsuura milling machine purchased

2023 – WES celebrates 40 years in business
